Womens Maui Strength Fundraiser Tee 2nd Round - Black
The devastating fires in Maui have deeply affected the world, especially for those who have found within its shore’s: friends and family, a home, and a community. We here at Cukui have our own ties to the Hawaiian Islands and we have been moved by the outpour of love and support being shown to those affected by the wildfires. We knew we needed to put our heads together and use our resources and connections to devise a fundraiser to aid in this worthy cause.
Although we had some great ideas and concepts, we knew we needed to do something quickly and eye-catching as time was of the essence. One of the ideas that rose up from the rest was the imagery and style of the Hawaiian Strength shirts we used to wear and covet as youths in the 80s and 90s. With this concept in hand our co-founder Orly Locquiao started sketching the letters and the Manaiakalani, Maui’s hook from Hawaiian lore, to add context and additional meaning to the graphic.
We realized that in order to support the community of Maui we needed the help of our own community to make this initiative work. That is why we are proud to have businesses and art organizations like Krucial Printing, BG Concepts, Biscuits, Headliners, Humble Beginning Tattoos, Day One Barbershop, and San Jose Walls to aid us in making this possible.
Our Maui Strength shirt will be available for pre-sale starting today on our website. It will be available in both men’s and women’s sizes. Please expect at least two weeks for production and fulfillment.
We decided that all net proceeds from this fundraiser will be going to the Hawai’i Community Foundation, one of the first organizations to set up a fund in support of those affected by the wildfires. For more information, please check out www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org/maui-strong.
Lastly, we want to thank you for supporting the people of Maui, whether it was through your donations, time and effort, and/or spreading the word. With each passing hour the impact of the fires is made real to those who are grieving and rebuilding their livelihoods from the ash. The recovery will take time and the island of Maui will need all the support we can give: now and in the future.
Spread aloha and take care of one another.
